Loaded News Coverage, Commentary Can Fuel Hate, Prejudice

Research by U. of Hawaii, U. of Exeter & National Hispanic Media Coalition indicates that media content can have a direct effect on hate and prejudice against minority groups. CAIR-WA launched its "Interfaith Engagement Project" in 2009. The project was designed to work with mosques across the state of Washington to connect Muslim leaders with leaders of their neighboring churches and synagogues. Since the project's launch, leaders of more than 20 mosques were introduced to rabbis and pastors of more than 30 synagogues and churches, leading to numerous interfaith dialogues, projects and joint social justice ventures.

Faith Action Network was created in 2011 through the union of the Washington Association of Churches and the Lutheran Public Policy Office.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
