(SEATTLE, WA, 4/16/19) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations - Washington (CAIR-WA) and Northwest Film Forum (NWFF) today announced a series “Popcorn, Justice, and a Movie” to feature films about social justice, race, religion, and identity.
The first in the series will be “The Venerable W,” a documentary about Ashin Wirathu, a Buddhist monk in Myanmar fomenting racial hatred and violence against that country’s Muslim (Rohingya) population.
A discussion will follow the film and will feature a representative of the International Rescue Committee, an expert in the politics of Myanmar from the Jackson School of International Studies and the Executive Director of The Council on American Islamic Relations – Washington.
