A personal “thank you” for our 2018 Gala success from our Executive Director, Masih Fouladi
Assalamu Alaikum,
Last weekend was my first gala as the Executive Director of CAIR Washington (CAIR-WA). It's tough to be the new guy in town, even tougher to attempt to follow some of the incredible people who have led this organization over the years. But from the moment the doors opened on Saturday evening, I knew I'd come to the right place. Alhamdulilah.
The community turned out in force as volunteers, donors and allies. Shaun King, Roula Allouch and Imam Suhaib Webb rocked the mic and inspired us all. The CAIR-WA staff, board and interns stepped up, pulled together and made it happen.
In the end, 550 community members attended and we raised $250,000. We will use this support to continue our work enhancing the understanding of Islam, protecting civil liberties, promoting justice, and empowering Muslim Americans.
Here what to expect from us in coming months:
- CAIR Washington's school bullying survey will be published next week as a part of a national campaign to prevent religious bullying;
- We will work with our communities here in Washington to stop Trump's attempts to pass his Public Charge rule;
- We will begin scheduling our train-the-trainer sessions for community leaders, activists, and youth who are interested in hosting their own community engagement and know your rights workshops; and
- We will host Muslim Day on the Capitol this February in Olympia
But I need your continued support, input and volunteer hours. The community here has inspired me and our CAIR Washington team. With your help, I know we can change the game for Muslim Americans and so many other communities throughout the State.
I am excited to be working with you and already proud to call this beautiful place home.
In Peace,
Masih Fouladi
CAIR-WA Executive Director
