(SEATTLE, WA, 2/10/2023) – The Washington chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an allegedly racially-motivated stabbing targeting an Asian-American man on Jan. 31.
According to reports, a self-professed skinhead and his girlfriend are charged with assaulting a man in the University district, pinning him down and stabbing him in the chest. During the attack, it is alleged that there were anti-Asian slurs being hurled at the victim.

“It is truly troubling to see the vicious nature of this alleged attack, reportedly targeting our Asian-American brothers and sisters,” saidImraan Siddiqi, CAIR-WA’s executive director.“We’re glad to see that the victim has been released from the hospital, but reiterate the need for this rising tide of hate against marginalized communities to be taken seriously.”
Just this week, there have been reports out of Georgia of the rise of anti-Semitic flyers being distributed, as well as reports of harassment targeting Indigenous people in Arizona.
