"We are truly disturbed to see these threats of violence against Congresswoman Jayapal," said Imraan Siddiqi, CAIR-WA’s executive director. "As we have seen in recent years, these unending threats of violence against brown and Black communities—specifically brown and Black women leaders—must be taken seriously. We stand in solidarity with the Congresswoman against these threats of hate.”

He added that CAIR-WA has worked alongside Congresswoman Jayapal throughout her time representing Washington state’s 7th congressional district, which includes most of Seattle and Burien, advocating for policy priorities such as defending human rights in Palestine and ending anti-immigration border policies like Title 42.

Additionally, Congresswoman Jayapal’s office routinely participates in CAIR-WA’s annual Muslim Day at the Capitol, and she has personally wished Washington state Muslims “Ramadan Mubarak”.

CAIR-WA provides legal support to Muslims in Washington state who have been discriminated against because of their Muslim identity. We also help those who are perceived to be Muslim, such as Sikhs or non-Muslim Arabs, who are harassed or discriminated against because of that perception.

CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims. La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, proteger las libertades civiles, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
